COVID-19 Update, June 15th, 2020
A lot has changed since Mid-March when we unfortunately had to end out season early due to the outbreak of COVID-19 globally. During this time it's been great that the weather has warmed up, and we've seen tons of players working on their individual skills during this time. We can't wait to see how all the players in Regina have used this time to improve their game!
As it stands we are still unsure of what is in store for the 2020-2021 season. As many of you have reviewed the provinces 5 Phase re-opening plan, it's great to see the city of Regina having success with the re-opening, while keeping our number of cases low. We haven't receive direction from the Government on when Basketball can resume, we estimate it will fall in either Phase 4, or Phase 5 both of which do not have dates for implementation.
We want to assure our membership that we are working hard to be prepared and have plans in place should the government allow basketball programs to begin at some point in 2020. We are working with the City of Regina, the Public and Catholic school boards, the University of Regina, Canada Basketball and Basketball Saskatchewan as well as reviewing information from the Saskatchewan Healthy Authority and the Saskatchewan Government on what a adjustments would be necessary to get back on the court. This could include new safety and sanitization procedures, limitations on spectators, changes to programs, and updates to our waivers at registration.
We greatly appreciate all the people who took the time to complete our COVID-19 survey, the response we've had from our membership has been astounding! We will use all the information gathered to ensure our members concerns are put to ease should we be back on the court in 2020.
Once we have more information we will update our website and social media accounts.
