Player Development Clinics

New Player Clinics- Grade 5/6

This program is designed to give additional training to new players outside of their regularly scheduled practice time. The focus of each session will be on the introduction and practice of a combination of skills including: shooting, dribbling, passing and footwork.

Cost: $10

Player Development Clinics- Grade 7/8

These clinics are geared towards those players that are wanting to go to play high school and provincial basketball and will focus on developing the skills necessary to succeed at that level.  Based on the success of the program over the past few years, we are once again offering these clinics.  

Cost: $15 

Girls: Sunday December 2nd 1:00-2:30pm Location TBD

Coach Bios
Jon Giesbrecht
Currently in 2nd year with the Winnipeg Wesmen Men's Basketball Program
(Assistant Coach), an Assistant Coach with the John Taylor Collegiate Varsity
Boys & Draft Express Video Editor. In years previous, spent two years as an
Assistant Coach with the Manitoba Bison Men's Basketball program, spent the
past five years as the Head Coach of the John Taylor Collegiate Pipers JV Boys
program, spent the past two years with Team Manitoba 17U Provincial team as
an Assistant Coach. 15U Team Manitoba Head Coach 2017.

Chris King
Last season, King guided the Rustlers to a school record 24-0 regular season
mark, the team would eventually bow out in the Conference Semi Finals. The
Rustlers have been nationally ranked for the past two season’s, getting as high
as #5 last season. Coach King was awarded ACAC Coach of the Year in the
2015-2016 season for the second straight season.

Dave Waknuk
Former Grand Prairie College Women’s Basketball Head Coach, Waknuk and
the Wolves captured the ACAC championship and he was named the ACAC
North Coach of the Year in 2010-2011, after the team compiled a 21-3 record.
The ACAC title ended a 16-year drought for the program.

Rich Chambers
Served as head coach for the University of Victoria Vikes women's squad and
previously had stints with the UBC Thunderbirds and SFU Clan. Having coached
numerous provincial and national squads, in 2015 Chambers did so again when
he guided Canada's national junior (Under-19) women's unit at the world
championships July 18-28, 2015 in Lithuania.
